Homeowner Jamie Bailey was at work when a neighbor called her about the unexpected guest.

"I thought it was a joke," she told IE. "I thought it was insane."

The video was recorded by Gary Rogers, who was stunned to see the alligator strolling through the neighborhood as he walked his dog. He said he thought perhaps the alligator smelled the family's own dog inside the house.

Rogers had some advice for the locals.

“If you hear a doorbell, you gotta make sure you look out the door before you open it,” he told IE.
