Police have arrested the boy's father, Lance Williams Sr., 36, after concluding he left the boy in the car for "an extended amount of time."

"Ultimately, upon his return to the car, that's when he found the child," Des Moines police Sgt. Paul Parizek said. "Unfortunately the child was dead (upon) arrival to the hospital, and it certainly appears that the child had been dead for some time."
