Three-month-old baby Anabelle Lawrence was born with profound hearing loss.

Her mom, Sarah Jo Lawless of Boise, Idaho was devastated when doctors broke the news.

"I just wanted to take it away from her," she said in an interview with InsideEdition.com. "I wanted to give her my ears. I was so helpless. I wanted to help my baby."

Even though the audiologist said baby Anabelle was a candidate for hearing aids, they had no guarantee it would work.

Until, they turned the device on, and Anabelle's eyes lit up.

In a video by Caters, Anabelle can be seen eyes wide and overwhelmed as she heard her mom for the first time in her life.

"It was so surreal, like you could kind of just tell by her little face," Lawless said. "These little expressions were pretty priceless.”

Anabelle can be seen furrowing her brows, and looking around, shocked, when her mom and the audiologist start clapping their hands.

"They worked really well and better than we ever expected, which was so joyous," Lawless said.

The new mom said her baby has a long journey ahead of her, including speech therapy and learning sign language, but little Anabelle is on track to become the youngest baby in Idaho to receive a cochlear implant when she turns 9-months-old.

Now, Lawless said she hopes for the best for her daughter, hoping she will one day grow up with her hearing disability to her advantage.

"People with disabilities change the world all the time," she told InsideEdition.com.
