Trump Surrogate Apologizes After Invoking 'Dora the Explorer' in Rant Over Tim Kaine's Spanish

Scottie Nell Hughes, who appears regularly on CNN in support of Donald Trump, has been criticized for invoking a kid's language-learning show.

A Trump supporter who appears regularly on CNN has raised eyebrows after a rant that invoked Dora the Explorer to criticize Hillary Clinton's newly tapped running mate.

Scottie Neil Hughes, whose on-camera arguments have been previously lampooned on Saturday Night Live, was apparently displeased about Senator Tim Kaine's use of Spanish to greet a Florida crowd last week.

Hughes made her comments while contrasting the GOP convention with Kaine's first campaign appearance alongside Clinton on Saturday.

"What Mr. Trump did, he spoke in a language all Americans can understand -- that is English," Hughes said. "I didn't have to get a translator for anything that was going on at the [Republican National Convention] this week.

"And I'm hoping I'm not going to have to start brushing up on my Dora the Explorer to understand some of the speeches given this week."

"I never meant 2 cause hurt rather attempt 2 reference a cute tool I learned/taught Spanish 2 my own children obviously failed. I was wrong," the mother of two tweeted on Saturday.

Tim Kaine, who Clinton named as her choice for Vice President on Friday, began speaking Spanish as soon as he took the stage in Miami.

"Bienvenidos a todos," the Kaine told the crowd. The phrase translates to "welcome to everyone."
