Meet Ozzy, Mima and Zaia, some of the dozens of dogs that competed in Brazil's first Dog Olympic Games, hosted at a private dog club in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro.

The competition, which ended last weekend alongside the Rio 2016 Paralympics, is open to all breeds, ages, and sizes of dogs, regardless of their level of experience.

Events mostly took place in the swimming pool, and included events like aquatic obstacle courses, or fetching a ball underwater.

While every dog was a winner, Mima, the 9-month-old beagle, took home the gold in aquatic jumping, despite never having competed before.

"I didn't even know she had all this talent," her owner, Aura Stella told the Associated Press.

Club owner and event organizer, Marco Antonio Toto, said the goal of the competition was to bring together humans and animals in celebration of sports.

Now, they plan to host the event every year.
