All the Right Moves: College Football Player Proposes to Girlfriend With Help From His Team

"All I had to do was tell them how I wanted it, and they told me they had my back," said Deion Pierre, linebacker for the Samford Bulldogs.

Teamwork made the dream work for one college football linebacker, who got an assist from his entire team as he proposed to his new fiancé.

Samford University junior Deion Pierre, 21, told InsideEdition.com he knew that when he proposed to his high school sweetheart Jasmine Henderson, 20, he'd want to do it in a big way.

"I've always been the type of person to surprise her, so I just thought to myself this has to be bigger than any surprise she's ever received," Pierre said.

A linebacker for the Alabama college team, he knew there would be nothing bigger than a pack of football players.

"The team was very eager to help me," he said. "All I had to do was tell them how I wanted it, and they told me they had my back."

The team helped him come up with a routine, and after practicing on the field twice the day before, Pierre decided he was ready to pop the question following a Bulldog win Saturday — in which Pierre scored a touchdown.

After cleaning off, the team took to the field, and surrounded Pierre's sweetheart, who was waiting along with other friends and family of the team. Each member held a single rose as they swayed to the song, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran.

Pierre watched her reaction until he made his grand entrance, joining her in the center of the circle his teammates created around her.

He then dropped to his knees, and presented Henderson with the ring.

"I loved her reaction," Pierre told InsideEdition.com. "It was great to see the surprise on her face."

Pierre said he has been dating Henderson since they were sophomores at a Miami high school, and knew he wanted to marry her ever since.

The pair plan to tie the knot after graduation.
