'Drunk' 12-Year-Old Leads Police on Car Chase and Crashes Twice: Cops

Police have said they are not sure where his parents are.

A Texas 12-year-old was rushed to the hospital Monday after leading cops in what they have called a drunken chase.

Austin police said they attempted to pull the child over after spotting him driving erratically, but he would not stop.

During their pursuit, police said he hit a car head-on and then kept going before eventually smashing into a pole, which was knocked down as a result of the impact.

“It happened and we don’t know why a 12-year-old was driving,” senior officer Ivan Ramos said in a press conference.

Officers said they are investigating the boy being intoxicated.

He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries following the crash.

There were no other injuries reported, according to police.

The boy, whose name won't be released, will be charged for evading police, failure to stop at a motor vehicle accident, and driving while intoxicated, police said.

Police said it’s not currently clear where his parents are.
