Man Lets His 4-Year-Old Daughter Give Him a Real Tattoo: 'This is Definitely My Favorite One'
Nothing was out of the ordinary about tattoo artist Brad Bellomo adding another piece of art to the hundreds of tattoos already on his body — except this one was done by his 4-year-old daughter.
Chloe had been begging her dad to give him a tattoo for a while, but last year, Bellomo finally gave in.
“I used to call her shop manager just to play around and have her feel important. She kept asking, 'when can I tat you daddy.' I was just like, 'you know, when you get older,'" Bellomo told InsideEdition.com. “She would say, ‘well, when I am older you might be full (his body) already.'"
Bellomo, who works at Third Eye Tattoo in Largo, Florida, decided to set up a mock tattoo session with Chloe to see how she would like it.
"I set it up for her with just the machine with no needle in it, still with all the gloves, all looking like it was legit and she basically just air traced what I already have tattooed,” said Bellomo.
Bellomo wanted to see if the machine would be too heavy for the little girl, but she said it wasn’t and continued asking when she could do the real thing.
Chloe has loved art since she was a baby, Bellomo explained. He'd been teaching her how to trace and color in the lines since before she could walk.
Having started drawing himself at a young age, and tattooing for the past nine years, Bellomo understood Chloe’s passion.
So, he finally said yes.
“I was like, 'you know what? Let’s see what happens.' I’ve got the foot control and the way the needle is in the machine, if she did something that wasn’t safe I could just take my foot off the pedal and she couldn’t poke herself or me or anything,” Bellomo said. "I was just keeping a real close eye."
When Chloe was younger, she used to try to say the nursery rhyme, “baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?” But Bellomo said that instead of "have you any wool? it would come out as “Berry Wu,” and so that became her nickname.
The strawberry she tattooed on her dad’s arm was a reference to it.
“It did seem like she was way too young but at the same time she was ready. Everyone’s different. I felt confident in her or I wouldn’t have let her,” he said. “I was like this is crazy but this is like the coolest thing ever. Out of all the tattoos that I have this is definitely my favorite one.”
As for Chloe, she won’t be getting any tattoos of her own anytime soon.
“No tattoos for her until she’s 35."
