Gigi Hadid Apologizes for Impersonating Melania Trump: I Have Only the Best Wishes for Our Country
Gigi Hadid has apologized for her impersonation of Melania Trump onstage at Sunday's American Music Awards.
The 21-year-old supermodel posted a handwritten letter on social media writing: “I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run.”
She added: “I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country.”
Co-host Jay Pharoah, who mocked the president-elect in the same bit, says no apology is needed.
He wrote on Facebook: “Everybody pump the brakes one damn minute! Over the last 8 years the beautiful Michelle Obama has been the victim of excessive slurring!”
Green Day, who also called out the president-elect during their AMA performance, have not apologized for borrowing lines from Texas punk band MDC and leading the crowd in a chant of “No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA.”
The California band performed “Bang Bang” and “Revolution Radio” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night, but this time, they did not include any of the MDC lines.
