“There was a shooting,” said Stephen Washburn, who captured the entire scene live on his Facebook page.

He recorded 19 shots being fired at about 1:30 p.m. during the annual “Juice Bowl” at Shawnee Park in Louisville, a youth football game that fills the park with children and adults in an afternoon of holiday fun.

Two black males were pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Louisville Metro Police Department said in a statement on Facebook.

Police are now searching for suspects.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer was present at the event and had only been about 200 yards away from the shooting, according to reports. He was taken to safety by security.

“The Juice Bowl is a longtime Thanksgiving Day tradition filled with family and community cheer,” Fischer wrote on Facebook. “To have people with guns so disrespect life, Shawnee Park, and neighborhood tradition is sad and has no place in our city.”

A local resident echoed that statement, posting on Facebook: “Sad that what has been a Louisville tradition for decades is no longer safe.”

City officials urge anyone with more information to call the anonymous police tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
