Musical 'La La Land' Leads Golden Globe Nominations as Major Stars Snubbed

The Globes also put O.J. Simpson back in the spotlight.

The musical La La Land has danced its way to cinema stardom with seven Golden Globe nominations Monday, including Best Picture and Best Director, but the list of nominees were not without a few glaring snubs.

The FX series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story received five nominations including Sarah Paulson for her portrayal of Marcia Clark and Courtney B. Vance for his role as Johnnie Cochran.

Meryl Streep was nominated for her 30th Golden Globe for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins. But win or lose, Streep will take home the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.

The most noticeable snubs included Tom Hanks, who did not get nomination for his portrayal of Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger in Sully. Also ignored was Martin Scorsese, whose religious epic and passion project, Silence, is due out in theaters in January.

The Golden Globes will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon and handed out January 8.
