Sasha Obama, 15, was noticeably absent as the president spoke, and the White House says it was because she was studying for an exam she had Wednesday morning.

Her sister, Malia, 18, and her mother, first lady Michelle Obama, sat next to each other, along with their grandmother Marian Robinson. As President Obama emotionally thanked his family for their support, social media was set ablaze, wondering where Sasha was.

The president told his daughters: “You are smart and you are beautiful but more importantly, you are kind and you are thoughtful -- and you are full of passion. And bore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I have done in my life, I am most proud to be your dad."

Sasha Obama missed her father's farewell address for an exam. I no longer have any excuses as to why I can't study.

Sasha is currently enrolled at the D.C. private school Sidwell Friends. She and her family will stay in the nation’s capital for another year after they leave the White House on January 20 so she can finish school.

Her older sister will attend Harvard later this year after taking a year off between high school and college.
