Judy Malinowski, 33, a former beauty queen and mother of two, was deliberately set on fire by her then-boyfriend Michael Slager at a gas station outside Columbus on August 2, 2015.

Her mother Bonnie Bowes must put on a gown and gloves when she visits her daughter in the ICU.

“I knew he wanted to kill her,” her mother said. “She never ever knew him to be violent, ever."

During a frantic 911 call from the gas station, an unidentified male told the dispatcher: “Somebody just set a woman on fire. She ignited immediately.”

The dispatcher asked: "Ok, is she still on fire, sir?"

“He just grabbed a fire extinguisher from inside Speedway. She is on the ground, I mean, it's bad,” the caller replied.

Since that day, Malinowski has been at Ohio State University Medical Center with fourth and fifth degree burns over 80 percent of her body. She has had more than 50 surgeries.

Her young daughters, Kaylyn, 12, and Madison, 9, also must put on gowns and gloves to visit their mom. The young girls pray their mother gets better.

Malinowski allowed Inside Edition to air video of because she wants other abused women to learn from her experience and seek help before it’s too late.

Slager pleaded no contest to aggrevated arson and was sentenced to 11 years in prison in December. He could be tried again, on different charges, if Malinowski's condition turns fatal.

During the sentencing, the judge told Slager: "From everything you have shown, it is clear that you are a man with no soul and you deserve to be incarcerated."

In Ohio, a law named after Malinowski called "Judy’s Law" is being pushed in state government which would increase the maximum sentence of intentionally burning and disfiguring someone to 20 years. In the end of January, Representative Jim Hughes wrote the first draft of the bill, which he plans to introduce within the next 30 days.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help for medical expenses. For more information click here
