Metallics, Hot Reds and Lots of Leg: Stars Dazzle on the Oscars Red Carpet

See the best and worst dressed from Oscars night.

Metallics, bright-red dresses and thigh-high slits rocked the red carpet at Sunday night's Academy Awards.

The dress worn by best supporting actress winner Viola Davis was red-hot. Her drop-shoulder Armani Prive dress was stunning. She was one of the few wearing the color.

A parade of actresses wore white, cream, or gold. La La Land's Emma Stone, who took home a Best Actress Oscar for the role, looked classic Hollywood in a gold Givenchy dress with a fringe.

Jessica Biel was blinding in her metallic gown. Nicole Kidman's beautifully embroidered Armani gown was also a creamy gold.

A dazzling Charlize Theron also went for the metallic look in a Dior frock with a thigh-high slit. But people were buzzing about her earrings — 18-carat white gold with a whopping 59.9 carats of diamonds.

Chrissy Teigen was on trend with a white gown, showing lots of leg. Naomie Harris was a stunner in a white sequined Calvin Klein dress, short in the front and long in the back.

Some also stunned in black. Taraji P. Henson got high marks for her custom Alberta Ferretti gown. Kirsten Dunst looked like a princess in Dior, while Brie Larson showed lots of shoulder in an Oscar de la Renta number.

Jennifer Aniston was also in a black dress with a high slit. Michelle Williams wore a combination of black and white with a plunging neckline. Fashion observers took note of her super-short pixie haircut.

The big hair moment when to Halle Berry, who had a head of wild curls. It was the talk of social media, though not in a good way.

“How many wigs is Halle Berry wearing?” one person wrote.

Dakota Johnson didn't get rave reviews for her Gucci dress, which had an apron-like detail in the front.

Hailee Steinfeld’s dress was quite busy, which cost her a spot on any best-dressed lists.

But it was Scarlett Johansson who made the worst-dressed list with a pink floral number that exposed her under-dress and lots of side boob.

Meanwhile, all eyes were on Meryl Streep to see what she would wear after one of the world’s top designers accused her of soliciting payment to wear his gown. Her spat with Karl Lagerfeld made headlines in the days leading up to the show.

Before the show, she had a small stumble on the red carpet, but it didn't take away from how flawless she looked.

There were also accessories that celebrities used to show support to a cause, like Ruth Negga, who donned a ribbon in support of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Emma Stone and Dakota Fanning wore gold pins in support of Planned Parenthood.

Director Ava DuVernay made a political statement wearing a gown made by a Muslim designer Ashi Studio.
