Oscar Winner Octavia Spencer Says Her Latest Movie, 'The Shack' Is 'Healing'

Inside Edition caught up with the Academy Award winner on the red carpet.

It was star-studded affair in New York City's Museum of Modern Art Tuesday night at the premiere for the upcoming film, The Shack, the story of a grief-stricken dad coping with the death of his daughter.

In the film, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer plays God. She says the film presents a message of inspiration and faith.

“I think this movie offers a lot of answers to plaguing questions we all have," She told Inside Edition at the premiere. "I see it as a little healing and a little hope."

Tim McGraw, not only stars in the film, but also wrote one of its songs with his wife Faith Hill.

"We wanted to write a song that captured the arc of the movie," he told Inside Edition. "It captures the pain at the beginning and the salvation at the end."

The film is based on the best-selling book written by William Paul Young, who said he originally wrote the story as a Christmas gift for his six kids.

"I made 15 copies at Office Depot and those 15 copies did everything I ever wanted this book to do,” he told Inside Edition. “I wrote a book for my kids, made 15 copies, and this! Beyond beautiful.”
