Queen Bee: Timid 5-Year-Old Girl Crowned Youngest Spelling Champion Ever

Little Edith Fuller spelled every word correctly through 10 rounds.

A shy 5-year-old girl is now the youngest regional spelling bee champ ever, besting competitors as much as three times her age.

Edith Fuller won the regional contest In Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the weekend and is now heading to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. She beat out 50 other kids, some as old as 15, to take the crown.

She spelled every difficult word, like “Croesus” and “Jnana,” correctly through 10 rounds.

Later this year, she'll go up against nearly 300 regional winners when the National Spelling Bee gets underway.
