A couple pulled over for a traffic stop told police they were on their way to a hospital because the woman was 38 weeks pregnant and in labor, police said

She was neither, according to authorities.

Victoria Young, 22, and Michael Young, 35, of Attica, N.Y., were arrested after being escorted to the nearest medical center, where staff determined the woman was not with child, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department.

She was charged with falsely reporting an incident, and turned over to the Olean Police Department for an outstanding petty larceny charge, according to the Daily News in northwest New York.

He was charged with driving with a suspended registration and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, the Buffalo News reported. Deputies also discovered an order of protection against him that prohibited him from contact with Victoria Young.

He was charged with criminal contempt for the latter alleged act, authorities said.

Both are scheduled for their first court appearance on April 10.
