Mom Fights Off Man Who Allegedly Attacked Her 2-Year-Old Daughter at Park: Cops

William Bates, 24, was arrested after he allegedly walked behind the girl and snatched her as she was playing on a swing at a Kansas City playground.

A Missouri mother saved her 2-year-old daughter from an alleged predator that attacked her child at a playground, fighting the man off after he allegedly ripped off the little girl’s diaper, officials said.

William Bates, 24, was arrested after he allegedly walked behind the little girl and snatched her as she was playing on a swing at Kemp Playground in Kansas City, police told InsideEdition.com.

The child’s mother, who reportedly told police she saw Bates “eyeballing” her children, said he grabbed her by her hips and pulled her diaper down before pulling his own pants down.

He then began thrusting against the child, the mother said.

The mother sprang into action, running at Bates and knocking him to the ground before repeatedly punching him while he was down, cops said.

The mother reportedly identified Bates from a police photo as her daughter’s attacker.

Bates, of Kansas City, was charged with first-degree attempted sodomy, and attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 12 years old.

He reportedly later told police that he had gotten a cigarette from someone near the park and didn’t remember anything of the incident until he awoke inside a fenced-in area. He was then taken into custody by police.

Bates’s bond is set at $150,000 cash only.
