Women Rip Clothing Company LuLaRoe Over Holes and Fabric in Leggings

Thousands of women have come forward alleging that the leggings have left them feeling naked.

One clothing company is being taken to court amid numerous customer gripes that their product is defective.

Christina Hinks is one of many women complaining that the "super soft" leggings they purchased from LuLaRoe are ripping.

“They're ripping," Hinks told Inside Edition as she displayed a pair that an angry customer returned to her. "They're holey. The entire backside is blown out."

The brightly patterned leggings sell for $25 and are marketed to millennials and older women. They come in only two sizes, one size fits all and tall/curvy. The company advertises the leggings "as close to your own skin as you can get with all the perks of not being naked."

But many women say they were, in fact, left with bare bottoms after putting them on.

A class action lawsuit describes the leggings as "tearing as easily as wet toilet paper."

A LuLaRoe executive said in an email: “The leggings may get holes, because we weaken the fibers to make them buttery soft.”

“We stand behind the integrity and quality of our products, and take concerns seriously," LuLaRoe said in a statement to Inside Edition. "In fact, less than 1 percent of our products that are shipped come back damaged.”

LuLaRoe said they plan to vigorously defend against the lawsuit.

Lexie Sachs, Senior Textiles Analyst at the Good Housekeeping Institute, offered Inside Edition tips on how to buy leggings that will not rip.

“They should feel like a thicker weight, a heavier fabric, so you know that they're more substantial, that they're not going to be too thin and tear easily,” she said.

Sachs also said to look for a gusset, saying, “You see this triangle shape, this diamond shape, which prevents them from riding up, it really creates a good fit.”
