Fyre Festival Under Fire: Fans Say Ja Rule's Pricey Island Event Is a 'Complete Dump'

Fyre Festival is postponed due to unexpected accommodations. Some fans left before the festival even started.

Guests who forked over up to $12,000 to attend an island music festival in the Bahamas were instead met with empty promises, sub-par food and a tent city for accommodations.

A promotional video for rapper Ja Rule's Fyre Festival featured models like Bella Hadid and Alessandra Ambrosio in the clear, blue water, along with lit-up stages with dancing crowds.

The fans who dished out such an incredible amount of cash were expecting gourmet food, art, and music on the island of Great Exuma, about 380 miles off the Florida coast. But instead, they were met with what looked like disaster-relief tents, mattresses piled up in the dirt and reports of wild dogs running free.

A group of friends who attended the festival told Inside Edition it was an "absolute disaster."

The “gourmet” food consisted of a cheese sandwich in a Styrofoam box and the food court had folding chairs plopped on the grass.

One guest called the site "a complete dump, just a rain-soaked mud bowl."

A group of festival-goers left early and went back home. Some fans, who tried to get flights back to Miami before the festival started, claimed they were being locked in the terminal.

Others said they were stuck on the tarmac for hours aboard a plane. Luggage was reportedly delivered out of the back of a shipping container at night without the assistance of lights..

The scene has even been labeled "Rich Kids of Instagram meets The Hunger Games."

Blink-182, which was slated to perform, later pulled out of the gig.

"We're not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give our fans," the band said in a statement on social media.

After the firestorm of complaints through social media, the organizers made a statement of their own on Friday.

"The festival is being postponed until we can further assess if and when we are able to create the high-quality experience we envisioned," the statement read. "We are working tirelessly to get flights scheduled and get everyone off Great Exuma and home safely."
