INSIDE EDITION follows up on a story we brought you earlier this year about a paralyzed young woman who was determined to walk down the aisle at her wedding, as her dream came true last weekend.
Jen Darmon was paralyzed in a horrific car wreck but determined to walk down the aisle at her wedding, and she did just that over the weekend.
She looked radiant as she and the man she loves exchanged vows in a fairytale ceremony.
"Absolutely a dream come true," Darmon said.
28-year-old Darmon was paralyzed from the waist down when the vehicle in which she was a passenger flipped over.
But she was determined to get out of her wheelchair for her upcoming wedding to fiancé Mike Belawetz.
Darmon went through months of grueling therapy to learn to walk again. She even practiced in a wedding dress that a staff member at Detroit Medical Center had given her.
When the big day came around, she did indeed walk down the aisle, supported by her proud father and brother.
"My first thought was to make sure that I was going to be able to keep my head up and be able to look at everybody and then I saw Mike and everything was great after that," Darmon said.
Darmon stood for the entire wedding ceremony, her legs supported by braces.
"It went a lot more smoothly than we thought it would," said Belawetz.
After the couple was married, Belawetz swept Darmon off her feet and walked out of the church.
