It was a wonderful weekend for Wonder Woman as the superhero flick brought in $233 million at the box office, making it the highest opening weekend for a film helmed by a female director.

It seemed that everyone sprinted to theaters to see Patty Jenkins' superhero film, the latest to premiere in a busy summer blockbuster season.

Actress Bryce Dallas Howard posted a video of her blowing a kiss to the movie poster.

Kids are responding in force to the movie’s girl power message, calling themselves “Wonder Woman” as other girls dressed up in the signature costume made famous by the DC Comics heroine.

Gal Gadot, who debuted as Wonder Woman in last year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, has become an international sensation.

The 32-year-old represented Israel in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant, which was owned at the time by Donald Trump. She also once served two years as a combat instructor in the Israeli army.

She transformed her body for the role, adding 17 pounds of muscle.

It has also been revealed that Gadot was five months pregnant with her second child during some of the film’s reshoots.
