They may not have won the jackpot, but the family that runs the California liquor store where the winning ticket in Saturday's $447 million drawing was sold isn't complaining.

In fact, they're thanking their lucky stars to the tune of $1 million, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

The Alberre family runs Marietta Liquor & Deli in Sun City, where one lucky customer became a Powerball megawinner over the weekend.

The identity of that winner isn't yet known, but the store gets a cool million just for selling the ticket.

"I kinda froze for a second, asked two or three times and instantly started crying," Matthew Alberre told CBS Los Angeles.

More than just a windfall, the money fell into their lap just months after Matthew's dad was forced to stop working due to lung problems.

"My dad has health issues," Matthew said. He's continuous air flow oxygen and the beginning of the year was very hard for our family."

For the Alberres, the money is something of a miracle. "For us to hit this six months later is just a motivation for our family" Alberre said.

Only one ticket was sold with all six matching numbers and the Powerball. The $447.8 million jackpot is the seventh-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

Whoever the winner turns out to be will now have the option of taking the entire $447.8 million spread out over 30 years, or they can elect to take the lump sum amount of $279.1 million.

The odds of winning Saturday’s drawing were just one in 292.2 million.
