It was a frightening moment for William Shatner as a horse got spooked and threw the actor from a buggy Wednesday.

The legendary actor hit the ground hard, falling face-first into the dirt as he was competing in a horse and buggy show at the Mercer County Fair & Horse Show in Harrodsburg, Ky.

The Star Trek legend walked away from the accident and even went on to win the competition.

At 86, Shatner is an avid equestrian and recently spoke to Inside Edition about his book, Spirit of the Horse.

“After 30 years of riding my back is kind of gnarly, and my legs don’t work as well," he said. "And I got all kinds of little growths. There is a very good possibility whether it is near of far and they will say you can’t ride anymore."

In the past, Shatner won the 2013 Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show.
