From Apples to Tacos, Are You Eating Some Foods the Right Way?

Food expert Alejandra Ramos also has a little-known technique for dunking an Oreo cookie.

Did you know there's a right way and a wrong way to eat an apple?

The average person eats an apple from the top to the bottom and waste about 30 percent of it in the process.

Food blogger Alejandra Ramos, of AlwaysOrderDessert.com, showed Inside Edition that if you take a bite right from the bottom, it gives you more of the fruit to eat.

“When you bite the apple from the bottom the core disappears,” she said. “The core is thicker at the top than it is at the bottom. You can eat all the apple and just spit out the seeds. You get more apple without wasting it."

There is also a wrong way to eat a taco, but Ramos has an impressive solution.

“We're going to use a lettuce leaf, and what you do is you wrap it around the outside of the taco to hold everything in place,” she said. “It's like a little safety net.”

Many people dunk their Oreos in milk by pinching the cookie from one end and putting it into the glass, but Ramos says the right way is actually to stick a fork in it — and dip.

She claims that the method will help you get the whole cookie in the milk, won’t make a mess and won't result in a table filled with crumbs.

Ramos also demonstrated the right way to open those stubborn pistachios.

Instead of using your nails to pry it open, just use a discarded shell to twist in the opening and voila! It opens right up.

Using ice cubes in iced coffee isn't a great idea because it will water down your cup of cold java.

Ramos suggests making coffee cubes by pouring coffee into an ice cube tray, freezing it and using it later as the ice in your drink.

And if you enjoy a good kiwi, chances are you're not getting your money's worth, no matter how you slice it.

Ramos says to cut off both ends of the fruit with a knife, and then use a spoon to dig out the edible part.
