They had worked a 12-hour shift.

A touching photo of a Florida police officer holding hands with a K-9 officer has warmed hearts amid rescue efforts during Hurricane Irma.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is one of many pitching in during Irma.

Coral Springs police showed authorities helping to transport a woman after she was forced to deliver her baby at home while the storm pummeled The Sunshine State.

The baby’s head was already out when the unidentified woman called 911, according to reports.

“A lot of times when people call 911, it’s not for something happy, and today – I always say 911 dispatchers save lives – today was very pleasurable to help start a life,” fireman Chris Hurst told News Channel 10 of the moment.

Irma has now weakened to a tropical storm, but millions of Floridians remain without power in her wake.

Police and the National Guard continued to carry out search and rescues throughout the state, reports said.

“We have got to make sure people understand it is still dangerous,” Gov. Rick Scott said news interview Monday. “Everybody has got to be patient as we work through this.”

The full-extent of the damage left by the storm is not known yet.
