Yanelly, who went by Nelly, then tragically pulled the trigger and was shot in the chest.

The Hillsborough County medical examiner’s office reported Nelly died when the bullet perforated her lungs, aorta and esophagus.

"She just wanted some damn candy," Nelly's father, Shane Zoller, told the Tampa Bay Times.

Zoller was on his way to pick up his daughter when he saw police car lights in front of his dauther's beloved grandparents' home.

Both grandparents were home at the time of the shooting. Cops said they have no reason not to believe their account of the incident, thought it remains under investigation.

A YouCaring page has been created to offset funeral costs for little Nelly.

"Heaven gained a beautiful angel," the page reads. "So many broken hearts who are waiting to be told this is all one big nightmare."

In an update, organizer Judy Cornett wrote that Nelly has been buried but the family still needs thousands more after their small down payment for the funeral costs, plus more to get her a headstone.

"Please love your children...please let them know you love them and never go to bed without giving them their little kisses and there [sic] hugs because you never know when it'll be the last time you'll say good night," Cornett wrote.
