Maddie Potts died Saturday in Rhode Island.
The captain of a Rhode Island high school soccer team has died after collapsing during a match over the weekend.
Maddie Potts, 17, was taking a penalty kick Saturday when the school superintendent says she suffered a brain aneurysm.

The senior at Chariho Regional High School was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
"Maddie represented the very best of our school as an artist, an athlete, a classmate, a teammate and a friend," the school principal said in a statement obtained by The Westerly Sun. "We all grieve differently, but we encourage you to remember Maddie as a bright light in Chariho, and share stories that speak to the meaningful impact she had on our community."
The statement said grief counselors would be on-site for anyone who needs to talk.
"We will work together with students to pay tribute to her life and the positive presence she was in our school," the statement said.

A candlelight vigil was held for Maddie on Monday and an area high school soccer game was dedicated to her memory.
The soccer league has asked all their teams to hold moments of silence for Maddie at every game held this week.
