Name Misspelled on 9/11 Memorial

It was a heartbreaking sight as grieving family members saw the names of their loved ones immortalized in bronze at the 9/11 memorial  for the first time when the memorial opened the family members on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

It's a beautiful and fitting tribute. But unfortunately, it is not quite perfect.

Jeffrey Schreier was one of nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on 9/11. His name is etched in bronze, but sadly, Jeffrey's name is misspelled. His first name is spelled Jeffery. It should be spelled Jeffrey.

Jeffrey's sister, Janice Hart, was stunned when she saw the mistake for the first time on Sunday, when the memorial was opened to family members.

"When I looked at his name, I couldn't believe it. It took us ten years to get to that point where we could have a positive experience and to see something," said Hart.

A spokesman for the memorial acknowledged the error and vowed to fix it, adding:

"We are extremely sorry for the pain this mistake has caused Jeffrey's family."

Hart said, "Everything should have been perfect and unfortunately it didn't work out like that."
