Community Remembers Salon Shooting Victims
A thousand people attended an emotional candlelight vigil outside the hair salon in California where eight people were shot dead.
Orange County DA Tony Rackauckas wept as he spoke about the gunman's eight-year-old son, now without a dad or mom.
"Now his mother has been murdered and he has to grow up knowing that his dad is a mass murderer," Rackauckas said.
New details are emerging about what led to the massacre, and about the hero hairdresser who gave his life trying to save the others.
A makeshift memorial outside the salon continues to grow, with cards, flowers, photographs, and notes. Meanwhile, more dramatic details are emerging about the horrific shooting. Randy Fannin, the salon owner, died a hero, putting himself between the accused gunman and his ex-wife, Michelle Fournier, using his own body as a shield.
Tami Scarcella, the salon owner's niece, said his wife Sandy tried to give him CPR.
"I believe he was shot in the chest and so she was trying to give him mouth-to-mouth, she kept saying, 'I just want to breath air back, I tried to give him air, I tried to breath air back into him,' " Scarcella told INSIDE EDITION.
Police say accused gunman Scott Dekraai killed his ex-wife Michelle and the other victims in a fit of rage because he feared losing custody of his eight-year-old son Dominic.
Christy Wilson, a close friend of Michelle's, was also a victim. The day before the massacre Wilson testified on her friend's behalf at a custody hearing. That act of friendship cost her her life.
There were tears and raw emotion at Wilson's home. A mother of three, she was an avid surfer and her family set up a memorial on her surfboard.
And we're also learning more about the other victims of the massacre.
