The pastor who delivered Whitney Houston's eulogy was carjacked while filling up his car at a gas station in Detroit. INSIDE EDITION reports.
The famous pastor from Whitney Houston's heartbreaking funeral was the victim of a violent carjacking, and it happened in broad daylight.
Pastor Marvin Winans was attacked at a Citgo gas station in Detroit.
"No one came out of the gas station, no one came out," said Winans. "One of them reached up and swung at me and caught me here [in the face]. And another one came on this side," Winans told reporters.
Some of the cuts can be seen on the pastor.
The thugs were so intent on getting his wallet, they tried to rip his pants off. They got away with Winans' Louis Vuitton wallet, $200 cash, his $15,000 Rolex watch, and his 2012 Infiniti SUV.
The carjacking has shocked his city where the Winans family is considered to be the First Family of gospel. Winans was praised for leading Whtiney Houston's extraordinary send-off.
Houston's cousin, Dionne Warwick just told INSIDE EDITION, "It is so sad that something like this happens at all, and especially to someone like Marvin."
Other brazen attacks have taken place at Detroit gas stations in recent months. Surveillance video captured the carjacking of an 86-year-old World War II veteran. On the video he can be seen crawling for help.
Pastor Winans had this to say to the young men who carjacked him:
"There's so much other good and positive things you could be doing with your life. Just stop," said Winans.
