The wife of David Petraeus is reportedly furious over his affair that ended his illustrious career and has put their marriage in jeopardy. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
She is the loyal wife of the disgraced American hero David Petraeus, and she's devastated by her husband's betrayal.
Retired Colonel, Steven Boylan, who spoke with Petraeus this weekend, told Good Morning America that Holly Petraeus is beyond angry.
"As you can imagine, she's not exactly pleased right now. I had a conversation with David Petraeus this weekend, he said 'furious' would be an understatement," Boylan said.
Their love story began on a blind date in 1973, when Petraeus was a cadet at West Point.
Over their 38-year marriage, she moved houses 23 times with Petraeus and their two children, and endured long separations from her husband.
"You get to the epitome of fame and fortune, and success, and you make a decision that is so disastrous to your entire life legacy," Kathie Lee said on the Today Show.
"It's the downfall of many men in positions of supreme power. Powerful men cheat because they can. They're high on their own power, they underestimate the consequences of their affair, they have a feeling of omnipotence, and also they have access to more young, exciting attractive females," said Psychologist Dr. Wendy Walsh.
Holly Petraeus has been a staunch advocate for military families.
"I haven't been in the spotlight personally, but i'm willing to do it for the cause of our military families," said Holly Petraeus.
And she was filled with pride as she kissed her husband when he was confirmed as CIA director. But also at that ceremony, seated just six seats from Holly Petraeus, was Paula Broadwell, the other woman.
The scandal erupted less than a month after their daughter, Anne, got married. Holly Petraeus was all smiles at her daughter's bridal shower.
So, is the hope for the marriage of David and Holly Petraeus? Some say "yes," but it won't be easy.
