Texas Gun Range Offers Birthday Parties for Children

Children as young as 8 years old are attending birthday parties held at a shooting range where they shoot real guns loaded with real ammunition. INSIDE EDITION reports.

It’s not an average birthday party as kids celebrated at a gun range.

Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville, Texas, is hosting kiddy parties. Even the little girls were armed with special pink guns.

“I thought it was really cool and it was kind of fun,” said one girl.

The day starts with the kids first sitting in a classroom where instructors certified by the National Rifle Association teach them the basics.

“Always treat a gun like it's loaded,” the instructor said.

Then, they move on to the shooting range where they get the gun. 13-year-old birthday boy, John took aim with a real riffle.

“It was pretty fun,” he said.

Many of his friends are shooting guns for the first time. A nine year old girl with a pink rifle was so short, when she sat to aim her gun, her feet didn’t even touch the floor.

While the kids are having fun, some are saying it’s a bad idea to mix kids and guns. The owner of the gun range says kids birthday parties are a good setting to teach kids about gun safety.

“We absolutely believe eight years old is not too young to shoot a gun,” he said
