Alanna Jenkins suspected her roommate was sneaking into her bedroom when she was out, so she set up a spy camera hidden in an alarm clock.
"I thought he was just going through my stuff or doing something that he shouldn't be doing," she said.
She wasn't prepared for the horrors the hidden camera revealed.
Her roommate was terrorizing her precious two-year-old cat, Chompers.
"I saw him violently abusing my cat. He would wrap her up in my blanket and cover her face and he would strangle her, get on top of her and choke her," said Jenkins.
The disturbing video showed him stalking the cat with a blanket in his hand to catch her. After she was caught, little Chompers fought back and bravely tried to escape.
Alanna took the video to the police and her roommate, 25-year-old Jordan Bean, was charged with animal cruelty. He was released on $3,000 bail. He claims he was just playing with the cat.
Bean has since left apartment in Boca Raton, Florida.
INSIDE EDITION went to Bean's parents' home, and surprisingly, they are pet lovers.
Jenkins was not able to hold back tears as she watched the video and heard Chompers' cries for help.
Fortunately Chompers was not seriously hurt. Under Florida law, Jordan Bean could face up to a year in jail, if convicted, and a $5,000 fine.
