Barbara Walters Sends Health Update From Home

While recovering from the chicken pox at home, Barbara Walters called in to the The View to give an update on her condition. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

Barbara Walters is speaking out about her medical crisis.

The 83-year-old TV legend called into The View Wednesday from her New York City apartment, where she's been recuperating from the chicken pox and a concussion.

"Hello my darlings. I miss you! I'm just sort of weak and tired. I talk back to you. I complain to you. I join the hot topics. I do everything," said Walters.

Walters gave details for the first time of how she contracted chicken pox, reportedly from a guest at a New Year's Eve dinner party in Florida.

"What happened was that I had a temperature and the chicken pox and didn't know it. And so when I was in Washington for the inauguration weekend, I fainted and I hit my head and had six stitches," said Walters.

When a photographer caught up with her last week, she was steady on her feet after visiting her doctor. But she told her co-hosts that she won't be well enough to return to work for at least three weeks.
