Woman Sues Church of Scientology Claiming Harassment

Marty Rathbun and his wife, Monique say that for three years they have been targeted in a campaign to destroy their lives.

Marty described a bizarre confrontation that took place at his front door, explaining, "They have this whole group of people with cameras on their heads, screaming and hollering."

"Everywhere we went somewhere, there was someone there following us on the road," added Monique.

Just who are the people the Rathbun's claim are waging war against them? Allegedly, it's the Church of Scientology where Rathbun was once Inspector General.

"This case is about their domestic terrorism operation against my wife, designed to make me shut up," said Marty.

The couple say they were driven from their cherished waterfront home in Texas after finding hidden video cameras placed near their property monitoring them 24 hours a day.
Monique said, "I felt so violated. I didn't know who was on the other end of those cameras, who was recieving those feeds, what they are looking at."

They moved to a rural home outside San Antonio nine months ago only to discover, they say, another hidden camera.

"It was mounted on a tree that I'm pointing at right here which was about 50 yards up," said Marty.

Rathburn says he was in charge of auditing high-profile celebrity Scientologists, which critics say is part therapy and part lie detector session.

"I was the one who audited Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley," said Rathbun.

Marty has been out of the church since 2004 and has been outspoken about alleged abuses within Scientology. Now, his wife, Monique has filed a harassment lawsuit against the church, alleging she was targeted to get even. She says the church even tried portraying her as a sexual pervert at work.

Monique told INSIDE EDITION, "I received a call from the HR supervisor saying, 'Some flowers just arrived with a card addressed to the receptionist with a really sexually explicit message on the card about wanting to be sexual with her, and it says it's from you.' "

Actress Leah Remini has been subpoenaed to testify in a harassment lawsuit filed by Monique against the church. The actress, now a contestant on Dancing with the Stars recently left the church after 30 years.

In a rehearsal video from Dancing with the Stars, Remini said, "The church is looking for me to fail so they can say to the parishioners, 'You see what happens when you leave the church.' "

Marty told INSIDE EDITION, "She is the last person who is out of the Church of Scientology who had significant face time with Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige."

The Church denies they have anthing against Remini and calls the Rathbun's lawsuit  "...nothing more than a pathetic get rich scheme cooked up by unemployed blogger Marty Rathbun who is now resorting to using his wife in an attempt to extort money from the church."

And they say, "he was removed from the Church for malfeasance and has initiated a smear campaign against us."

In a strange twist, Marty and Monique recognized the freelance cameraman we hired to video this interview. They say he was the same cameraman Scientology allegedly hired to videotape them.

At the end of our interview, the cameraman apologized to the Rathbuns, saying he was unwittingly enlisted to shoot footage of the Rathbuns.

Attorneys for Scientology also say the lawsuit has no merit and they are trying to get church leader David Miscavige dropped from the list of defendants.
