Aron Ralston Not Charged With Assault

Aron Ralston, who famously cut off his arm after it was lodged in a mountain and boulder, was cleared of assault charges following a domestic dispute. INSIDE EDITION explains.

Men hiding their faces are not how we're used to seeing American heroes. A man hiding his face leaving court was Aron Ralston, the hiker who famously cut off his own arm to save his life. He was taken into custody after an argument with his girlfriend but has now been released without being charged.

Ten years ago, Ralston cut off his forearm to free himself from a boulder in Utah. His ordeal was made into the Oscar nominated movie 127 Hours staring James Franco.

Ralston’s girlfriend, Vita Shannon, is still facing assault charges for allegedly punching him during a scuffle. The couple has an eight-week-older daughter. Shannon has pled not guilty.
