Is Tiger Woods really a sex addict? INSIDE EDITION asks a couple who went through treatment for sexual addiction if they think the golfer has a real addiction.
Jamie Grubbs, the Los Angeles cocktail waitress who had a two-and-a-half-year relationship with Tiger Woods, isn't sure whether he really is a sex addict.
INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret asked Grubbs, "When you hear somebody suggest he's a sex addict, or he has this excuse, what do you say to them?"
"Our relationship was never about, you know, the intimate factor. So I mean, what I know of him, I wouldn't say that he is a sex addict. But, I mean, I couldn't physically explain why there were so many other women, or why they keep coming out so, I mean, it could be a legitimate excuse," said Grubbs.
Corey Schortzman believes Tiger does have a serious "sex addiction" problem. And he should know. Schortzman says his sex addiction nearly destroyed his marriage to his wife Kerry. They spoke with INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander.
"I don't think it is a cop out. I mean, I think the behavior is out of control," said Corey.
"Give us an insight into what Elin is going through right now," asked Alexander.
"Complete devastation," said Kerry Schortzman. "You just don't realize that your husband has this other life."
The couple says treatment for sex addiction, which Tiger is going through at the Pine Grove Rehab Center in Mississippi, is intense. "Therapy is not for wimps. Therapy is very difficult," Corey told INSIDE EDITION.
Corey's wife was deeply involved in his treatment. It included polygraph tests to re-establish trust.
"Forgiveness is a process. It takes time," said Kerry.
The couple's sex addiction counselor, Dr. Doug Weiss, hopes Tiger Woods will help bring attention to the seriousness of sex addiction.
"Do you buy that Tiger Woods is a sex addict?" asked Megan Alexander.
Weiss replied, "Only Tiger and the person who's treating him will know if he's actually a sex addict. But there are millions of men and women who are sexually addicted who can get help and Tiger has kind of brought this up and he's doing the right things."
