Alarming Election Night For Democrats, And Tom Brokaw

While Republicans were taking control of the Senate, Democrats weren’t the only ones hearing alarms go off. INSIDE EDITION explains.

Tom Brokaw couldn’t believe what happened. Right in the middle of MSNBC’s live election coverage an alarm went off on the legendary newsman's cell phone!

He reacted by answering the phone saying, "Yes, I will remember to bring home the milk. Yes, I will walk the dog in the morning. Just sleep in, it is going to be okay."

Comedian Jon Stewart wasn't nearly as smooth in his live CNN interview when asked if he voted in the historic midterm election.

Christiane Amanpour asked, “Did you vote?”

Stewart replied, “No.”

A shocked Amanpour said, “No?!”

Stewart said, “I just moved. I don't know even where my thing is now.”

The remark sparked a firestorm on social media and hours later Stewart apologized, saying he really did vote, “I was being flip, and I shouldn't have done that. That was stupid. So, I apologize.”

It was a historic night. Coast-to-coast headlines trumpeted Republicans taking control of the U.S. Senate for the first time in eight years.

President Obama is taking his lumps with the New York Post calling it a "Midterm Tsunami," saying Obama has been "Stripped! Emperor Has No Clothes!"

New York's Daily News proclaims that Obama’s "Hope Turns To Nope!"

A new star to surface on the national scene is Iowa's new Republican senator Joni Ernst, who is famous for the campaign ad in which she said, “I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm.”

Her reaction to winning was, "We're gonna make 'em squeal!"

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon tried to cheer up the president with a video set to Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off,” which parodied the commander-in-chief singing the song by using clips of his past speeches.
