American Sniper Chris Kyle's Widow: 'I Feel Like Cinderella'

Taya Kyle found herself in a surreal position at the Oscars.

It was like a fairy tale. That's how American Sniper widow, Taya Kyle, summed up her night out at the Oscars.

Just before she attended the glittering event, Taya wrote on her Facebook page: "I didn't think I had the energy to show up at the Oscars, let alone be presentable. So, I find myself in a surreal position... like Cinderella who scrubs the floors but has a fairy godmother (Warner Brothers) who got me on a plane and had a dress and jewelry and even the shoes and Spanx waiting for me."

On the morning of the ceremony, she posted a bleary-eyed photo of herself just out of bed, but that evening there was a difference. Taya looked stunning in this strapless emerald-green Alexander McQueen gown and emerald-studded earrings.

As she posed for photos on the red carpet, she held her late husband Chris Kyle’s dog tags in her hand.

The movie based on Chris’ best-selling autobiography was up for six Oscars, including Best Picture. In the end it took home only one technical award for Best Sound Editing.

Taya told photographers in the airport, “I was emotional, I miss my husband.”

Less than three hours after the Oscars ended, Taya was at LAX airport to catch a red-eye back to Texas. She was determined not to miss a moment of the trial of her husband's accused murderer.

“It's still going on. Heading back tonight so I can get there tomorrow,” she said.

Taya tearfully testified against defendant Eddie Ray Routh early in his trial, and she has been in court every day since.
