Police said Heather Marcotte admitted to biting the child because she had become "frustrated" with him.

A teacher at a Louisiana day care was arrested for biting a 2-year-old child in the face, police said.

An unidentified parent told police her young son came home last week from Northlake Christian School with a red mark on his cheek.

An administrator at the school told the mother that her son’s teacher, 28-year-old Heather Marcotte, said she left a mark on the child when “her mouth accidentally hit his face,” she told police.

Marcotte was terminated after the incident, authorities said.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office launched its own investigation.

Marcotte allegedly told detectives with the department’s Juvenile Crimes Division that she bit the child when she became frustrated with him.

Marcotte was arrested on Wednesday and now faces a count of felony cruelty to a child.

If she is found guilty of the charge, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
