Video Shows Passenger Talking With Cruise Staff Before He Plunged Into Ocean: 'I'm Not a Pedophile!'
The just-released video was allegedly shot by Bernardo Albaz before he fell overboard last week.
Shocking new video shows Bernardo Albaz arguing with security staff in in his cabin shortly before he fell overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
Albaz is seen on the video telling staff that he had been subjected to homophobic remarks.
“I am not a pedophile!” he tells the two employees in his cabin aboard the Oasis of the Seas, a mammoth luxury liner.
Not long after, the 35-year-old Brazilian man was clinging to the side of a lifeboat as horrified passengers tried to help him. He dropped into the ocean and is presumed dead.
He was on the ship with his husband, Eric.
Attorney Mike Winkleman told INSIDE EDITION the new video shows that Albaz’s death was not a suicide prompted by a domestic dispute, as the cruise line has said.
“This is not a domestic dispute. This interaction shows Eric clearly saying 'This has nothing to do with us,''' Winkleman said.
“It was caused by anti-gay bulling.”
In a statement, Royal Carribean officials said "Our ship’s security officers responded to reports of domestic dispute loud enough to be heard from several staterooms away.
"The room was in a state of disarray, and both lamps in the room had been broken. Our officers interviewed the guests separately about their dispute, as is standard procedure. The officers were not in the room when the guest chose to jump off his balcony," the statment said.
"Our officers responded professionally and appropriately to the incident in the stateroom. In addition, other security officers and crew risked their own lives in an attempt to rescue the guest from the lifeboat rigging where he had fallen," officials said.
