Jon Stewart Vs. Rick Sanchez

Reaction is pouring in over former CNN anchor Rich Sanchez being fired for remarks he made during a radio interview. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.

There's strong reaction today to the firing of CNN anchor Rick Sanchez.

Barbara Walters said on The View, "Good for CNN, they fired him and they should have."

Sanchez was fired after he went on what some say was an anti-semitic rant during a radio interview, targeting The Daily Show's Jon Stewart.

"I think Jon Stewart's a bigot. I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah," said Sanchez on the radio show.

Sanchez was upset because Stewart regularly mocks him on his Comedy Central show.

Sanchez said on the radio interview, "That's what happens when you watch yourself on his show everyday and all they ever do is call you stupid."

Jon Stewart reacted to Sanchez's firing with deadpan humor on Saturday, joking, "All he has to do is apologize to us and we'll hire him back."

Cable news is subject of this week's New York magazine cover story, "Cable Ugly," about the raging war between the cable news networks CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

New York magazine writer Gabriel Sherman said, "When you deal with questions of anti-semitism, racism, bigotry, you can't take that lightly. That's kind of the third rail in American life, and he kind of stepped on it and the company had to respond."
