Cops: Wife of Former Eagles Bassist Accidentally Shot Dead in Couple's Home
Lana Meisner was discovered around 7 p.m. after police responded to a call about a shooting.
The wife of former Eagles bassist Randy Meisner was found shot dead in the couple's Studio City, California home on Sunday.
Lana Meisner was discovered around 7 p.m. after police responded to a call about a shooting.
Although the LAPD says officers had responded to a domestic distrubance call not two hours earlier, they have declared her death an accident. In a statement, they said she was shot by a rifle as she moved items around in her closet.
The first call came around 5:30 p.m. when North Hollywood patrol officers responded to a radio call of a woman asking for police assistance for a possibly intoxicated male suspect, according to a statement.

According to TMZ, that woman was Lana Meisner, who reportedly told officers her husband was waving a BB gun around and "acting erratically."
The officers took a domestic violence incident report and left the location.
Then, at 7 p.m., police responded to a call about a shooting at the same residence. When they arrived, the Los Angeles Fire Department declared her dead at the scene.
Police characterized the death as a freak accident:
"After a thorough investigation by Valley Bureau detective personnel and the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office, it was determined that Mrs. Meisner’s death was accidental.

"Mrs. Meisner was moving a rifle that was stored inside a case in a closet. As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner."
Police said Randy Meisner was cooperative throughtout the investigation and that he was in the other room at the time of his wife's death.
The last year has been a tough one for the rock legend. Meisner, who turns 70 this week, was put under court-ordered supervision to monitor his finances and drug use after he threatened to kill himself and others with pills and an AK-47, according to the New York Daily News.
