Mel Gibson Admits Slapping Oksana Grigorieva
For the first time, Mel Gibson admits he slapped his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva to "bring her back to reality." INSIDE EDITION has the latest.
"I slapped Oksana."
It's a shocking admission from Mel Gibson. For the first time, he's admitting that he got violent with his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva at his Malibu home last January.
The revelation comes from Gibson's sworn declaration in which he claims Grigorieva grabbed Lucia from her bassinet and started "swinging Lucia erratically in her arms, jerking her body from side to side to keep Lucia out of my reach...her head shaking violently."
Gibson says Grigorieva screamed, "stop yelling or you will make her into a retarded brain damaged idiot!"
Gibson also says he feared Lucia would suffer from "shaken baby syndrome" unless he stopped Grigorieva.
"I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality. I did not slap her hard. I was just trying to shock her so that she would stop screaming, continuing shaking Lucia back and forth."
Gibson admits that he didn't "(handle) the situation as well as I should have," but denies ever punching Grigorieva.
INSIDE EDITION recently spoke to Grigorieva's lawyer Martin Garbus, who said, "She was badly beat. It wasn't just a slap in the face. It was rather vicious. It was two fists to the face and one to the head."
It's hard to imagine they were ever a loving couple, but Gibson's love letters to Grigorieva, have also been entered into evidence. He once called her, "my dark eyed beautiful little communist" and gushed, "you conquered the monster in me with your love emanating from your truly beautiful heart and soul."
Gibson even wrote a poem for Grigorieva that says, "This kinda love is like war. I just can't resist your advance no more."
