Jennifer Lopez Breaks Down in Tears After 'American Idol' Contestant Reveals Abusive Relationship
The star told La'Porsha Renae: 'We've all been through stuff like that.'
Jennifer Lopez broke down in tears on "American Idol" on Thursday night after a moving performance by a contestant who overcame domestic abuse.
Before La'Porsha Renae sang Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama," she opened up about an abusive relationship that ended before she appeared on the talent show.
She sobbed as she finished the song. Lopez also fought back tears.
"It takes a lot of strength to overcome those things in your life, baby," she told Renae. "I know. Everybody knows. We’ve all been through stuff like that. You know what I mean?
"Honestly, you’re an inspiration. It was so beautiful. You put it in your music. You don’t overdo it. It was powerful. Thank you for that moment."
