Donald Trump Jr. told IE after the event: “It's all in good fun. We can take it just as well as we can dish it out.”
The GOP front-runner did not attend the annual event but his sons Donald Jr. and Eric were there with their wives.
"You got a room full of reporters, celebrities, cameras, and he says no. Is this dinner too tacky for 'The Donald?'" Obama asked on stage. "Is he at home eating as Trump steak? Tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel?"
Eric Trump told IE: “We are going to be there next year – you know the saying, ‘He who laughs last laughs the longest.’ We will get back at him at some point.”
At one point in his 30-minute speech, the president said some critics argue that Donald Trump lacks foreign policy experience. "But to be fair he has spent years meeting with foreign dignitaries around the world. Miss Sweden. Miss Argentina. Miss Azerbaijan," he quipped.
Trump Jr. was impressed with Obama’s speech, saying: “He missed his calling going into politics. He should have been a stand-up comedian.”
But Trump’s eldest son said that their father would do a “phenomenal job” at the Correspondents' Dinner too.
Eric echoed the sentiments. “My father is an incredibly funny guy," he said.

The real estate mogul commented on Obama’s jabs and told CNN’s "New Day" on Monday that the president was “having fun” and “joking.”
In 2011, Both Obama and host Seth Meyers went after Trump in their speeches. Many suspected that was the catalyst for the tycoon to stage a campaign.
Trump told "New Day" that even though he was the butt of many jokes five years ago, he “had a great time.”
