His 17-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, wrote on Instagram: “My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he's been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”
Depp's ex-wife, Vanessa Paradis, called him “sensitive, loving and loved person,” in a handwritten letter.
Comedian Doug Stanhope is a close friend of Depp. He wrote on TheWrap.com that Depp is the one being abused. Stanhope claimed: "Amber was going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn't agree to her terms."
He added: "Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it."

Heard got a restraining order against Depp Friday, claiming domestic abuse — the same day his new movie, Alice through the Looking Glass, opened for the big holiday weekend.
The movie bombed at the box office, taking in just $27 million. Hollywood insiders say the ugly domestic abuse accusations against him didn't help.
Heard’s best friend, a yoga instructor named Raquel Pennington, has filed papers in court claiming that Depp’s wife called her hysterically on May 21 — the night of the alleged attack — begging for help.
“When I opened the door, I saw Amber by the couch, covering her head with her arms and hands, as Johnny was loudly screaming at her,” she said.
Depp has denied all allegations of domestic violence.
