Can You Spot the Gator? Photo Shows Just How Easily the Predators Can Hide in Plain Sight
Photo of alligator in marshy grass is just one example of how difficult they can be to see.
A photo shows how effectively an alligator can hide near the Grand Floridian Hotel, where the Graves family was staying before their 2-year-old son was snatched by one of the reptiles.
In a photo taken by tourist Rob Caizza, an alligator looks more like a Where’s Waldo puzzle than a gator near a beach. The animal is camouflaged by green grass.
In a bid to ease the minds of parents left anxious in the wake of Lane Graves' death in the jaws of an alligator, Disney World has erected warning signs and barriers on its resorts' beaches.
"We are installing signage and temporary barriers at our resort beach locations and are working on permanent, long-term solutions at our beaches," Walt Disney World Resort VP Jacquee Wahler said in a statement.
The announcement was made three days after the toddler was snatched from shallow water in a lake at a Disney hotel and dragged to his death.
The beach had "no swimming" signs but no warning about alligators.
Following Graves' death, photos emerged of another boy at the same Disney lagoon just a half hour before the 2-year-old taken.
Channing Venditti was playing in the same spot where Lane was pulled away by the gator.
The boy’s mother, Jennifer, posted the pictures on Facebook Wednesday.
She told Inside Edition: “It could have easily been us. Shocked it wasn’t us. I question why it wasn’t him, why did that tragedy happen to another family when it could have been me?”
