Jared Loughner's Ex-Girlfriends Present Conflicting Descriptions of the Gunman
Two former girlfriends of accused gunman Jared Loughner are speaking out about the man they once knew. INSIDE EDITION reports.
Two ex-girlfriends of Tucson gunman Jared Loughner are speaking out.
"He had a temper problem," said Ashley Figueroa, one of Jared Loughner's ex-girlfriends, talking about the mass murderer's anger issues. "He used to scare me sometimes, and that's kind of why, the reason I left him, because he kind of made me feel uncomfortable at times. He'd get really mad and he would clench his fists really tight."
Figueroa dated Loughner when they both went to Mountain View High School in Tucson, Arizona.
She says he was very smart, but hung out with "Goth kids," and used drugs.
"I know he smoked marijuana, I know he did some hallucinogens," she said.
Figueroa told KGUN9-TV in Tucson she thinks her ex-boyfriend is actually faking mental illness to escape the death penalty for of his horrific deed.
"I don't think he's mentally ill at all. I think, honestly, I think he's faking everything, I think he's trying to get sent to a psych ward because he doesn't want to go to jail because he didn't die like he wanted to," Figueroa said.
Kelsey Hawkes also dated Loughner in high school. She says the young man she went out with gave no clues about the killer he would become.
"Back then he was a completely different person. Very caring, very sweet, gentle, kind. A little bit quiet, but altogether a pretty great guy," Hawkes said.
According to one U.S. Marshal, Loughner is being uncooperative in jail.
"He just sits in his cell with a smirk on his face, nothing else." The marshal told thedailybeast.com. "Not a smile, just a smirk […] He refuses to talk with deputy marshals, just 'yes' or 'no' or 'OK,' just one-syllable answers."
It's also been revealed that Loughner was a regular contributor to the conspiracy theory and UFO website abovetopsecret.com.
"He had a really tough time expressing some pretty far-out ideas," says Bill Irvine of abovetopsecret.com.
Loughner reportedly used the name "Erad3," and his views were so bizarre, an alarmed user replied to him,
"I think you're frankly schizophrenic, and no that's not an amateur opinion [...] Seek help before you hurt yourself or others..."
"Some of his ideas were just too extreme to be accepted," says Irvine.
